I like both. The fans should have both options plus the original stereo track.

Both options are OK but I prefer to have the original soundmix present as that was the version I first saw. The R1 also drops some lines of dialogue. There were too many changes with it on the R1 DVD for my taste as they seemed to make it gel more with the series. I'm thankful the European BD kept it intact, I seriously doubt the US BD will offer anything but a lossless version of the newer mix.
